Welcome

Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade of combined work as a registered nurse and travel nurse across Northern and Western Canada. Through nursing and my own experience as a client in therapy, I came to understand how we’re shaped by trauma, systems, and the conditions we’re asked to survive within. My involvement in the anti-violence sector and caring for underserved communities taught me the importance of harm reduction and community care, values that continue to guide my practice today. My work is also deeply informed by my own lived experiences of trauma. Along the way, I’ve learned that healing is never forceful (unfortunately, it can’t simply be checked off the to-do list).

In addition to being a therapist, I still work casually as a NICU nurse. Outside of work, I love spending long days outside exploring the local mountains and trails. I’ve summited over 120 mountains now despite not growing up this way. I moved out west from Winnipeg in 2021 and still like to blame my uphill breathlessness on my prairie lungs. Lately, I’ve been getting curious about the world of triathlon, so swimming and cycling are also becoming new, fun ways to move outside. I also like to eat pasta, thrift, cook, bake, read, and relax at home.

My Approach

My approach is grounded in feminist theory and my training in AEDP. This means I work with a present moment, emotion, and relational focus to repair attachment injuries and process trauma. I draw from the belief that your struggles, and however you have learned to manage them, make sense. Your consent and agency are at the forefront of everything we do together.

Rather than being a blank slate, I engage my true self in sessions. We’ll use our relationship to learn about your emotional experience in a way that might feel new or gently challenging, to create new neural pathways in the brain. By focusing our sessions on understanding your experiences as they come in the moment, you may gain a new perspective. You might experience this style of therapy as refreshing, offering not just insight into your emotions and internal world, but a felt sense of healing from the start.
